Dumping coins and awarding chests for treasure from Geek Ken

I always stood by handing out coin as treasure. Be it gems, pieces of art, or some other type of precious item, I've always been a fan of awarding monetary treasure to groups.

D&D Encounters (Week 9) from Dungeon's Master

Before starting D&D Encounter week 9, I had a tough decision to make. Last week we had a total party kill (TPK). I had to decide if I wanted to resurrect my Gith Monk and keep playing him for the remaining four weeks or if I should play a totally different character?

The Value of a One-Shot from DM Samuel's RPG Musings

Okay, I’ll admit it… I don’t like running one-shot adventures. I usually find it cumbersome, slow, and generally boring. One of the reasons I love DMing so much is that my players and I get to weave a story that includes elements in which everyone is invested. A one-shot pretty…

Why I Hate Magic Items from Continuing Clockwise

I don’t really hate magic items. Individually, they are a lot of fun. As a Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition player, I really enjoyed my paladin’s +2 flaming long sword, and I love his +3 imposter’s plate mail

Gears of Ruin: Sabotage! Part 2 from Critical Hits » RPG

Amazingly, the Gnome Airship was still intact when the PCs own ship set in formation near it (along the Melorian's living airship, and the Warforged chaos-propelled aerolith). Viscount Daven Sakran was joyously awaiting for them, all smiles and virginal innocence under the malvolent look of our…
